Internationalisation is a key aspect of the University's development. The broad objectives of internationalisation at UTS are:
- Teaching: to prepare graduates for professional practice in a global environment
- Research: to participate in the international community of scholars
- Community Service: to contribute to Australia's social and economic interactions with other countries and to Australia's growing cultural diversity
- Funding: to contribute to the funding needs of the University
Within the above context UTS: Education recognises its duty of care to international students and its obligation to provide appropriate support services. International partnerships and activities are underpinned by a genuine concern for mutual benefit, ethical management and a respect for fundamental human rights and sustainability.
UTS: Education seeks to be global in both its outlook and presence. Numerous opportunities are available for enlarging the world view of our staff and students, delivering and sharing our educational and research expertise overseas, expanding our links with industry and business to include international relationships, and inviting students from overseas to gain a UTS award here in Australia.
Some of the international activities in UTS: Education include:
- the delivery of offshore EdD courses in Hong Kong, and MA & MEds by distance education.
- the provision of Primary Education practicum trips to Thailand, Samoa and China.
- the participation of students in the undergraduate degrees (Primary Education, Adult Education & Organisational Learning) combined with the BA International Studies, which includes a period of overseas residence and study of a language and culture other than English.
- the presence of international students in UTS: Education's regular courses particularly in the language teaching courses: BTeach Languages (LOTE) major and Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL).
- joint research initiatives with overseas institutions.
