> We're leaders in education
We are one of the major providers of teacher and adult education in Australia. More than 2000 students are enrolled in education and we have more than 60 academic staff, many of whom are published authors and internationally recognised leaders in their fields.

> We have practice-based degrees
UTS:Education is genuinely committed to ensuring that your practical experience is broad based and relevant. We make sure you gain the skills valued by employers today. Our undergraduate programs all include professional experience placements in the program of study.

>We are research active
Our teaching is also informed by the latest educational research and theory from our Centre for Research in Learning and Change. Many of our academic staff are active members of the Centre and are involved in research across a broad spectrum of educational fields.

> We're flexible
We recognise that you may be juggling competing priorities in your life so our courses are flexible. You can study full-time or part-time study, with options in some courses for distance or block delivery. Our undergraduate degree in Adult Education is structured to be suitable for those working full time.

> We have two campus locations
Education courses are conducted on two UTS campuses. Primary and Secondary Education, and Music Therapy are taught at the Kuring-gai campus at Lindfield on Sydney’s North Shore, while Adult Education,  Organisational Learning, Graduate Diplomas and Masters courses are taught in the modern award winning Building 10 at the city campus.

> We provide international opportunities
We have exchange arrangements with a large number of overseas universities and the option to do a double degree with the BA in International Studies in all undergraduate degrees. We also offer our primary education students the opportunity to do an international professional experience trip.

> We’re technology focused
We are leaders in researching the use of e-learning in schools and all students in our undergraduate courses will study subjects in e-learning in a school or organisational learning context.

Geoff Riordan, Associate Dean Academic Programs
> "At UTS we have a range of undergraduate degrees each of which is characterised by a strong emphasis on practice, be it in schools, business organisations, TAFE or community colleges.  This emphasis is evident in the extensive professional experience of sessional and full-time academic staff and in the extensive professional experience placements in the courses.

Alan Scully, Course Coordinator Primary Education
> "Professional experience in our Teacher Education programs is widely acknowledged as a major strength of our work with students. We place a very strong emphasis on integrating learning on the campus with learning in the field. The process of becoming an effective teacher is a complex and challenging one, but at UTS the process is highly sequenced and supported. Students have opportunities to practise their teaching skills in diverse settings, and to reflect on those experiences in terms of the latest thinking about learning and teaching.”

Keiko Yasukawa, Course Coordinator Adult Education
> "UTS has an international reputation as a leader in adult education practice and research. Our suite of courses provides options for recent school leavers; adult educators already working in the field; and mature age learners considering a change in career to work in learning and development in diverse contexts, conduct training in workplaces and educational settings, facilitiate learning in both informal and formal settings, and teach language, literacy and or numeracy in a number of diverse contexts."
