Miyuki Watanabe, Japan
I want to be a Japanese teacher and heard that this course had a good reputation. You can learn lots of theories and practical things from lectures. Also you can go to local high schools and do teaching experience. I find the lecturers very helpful and lectures contain lots of strategies and theories for teaching.
Tomoko Goto, Japan
I choose this course because I can get a teachers licence after one year. I was a teacher in Japan and wanted to improve my career prospects. There are many people from different countries and also many Japanese students in this course, so we can help each other when we have problems. The course combines both practical and theory in teaching, and I like most of the lecturers as they are friendly and give good feedback. After graduation I want to teach Japanese in Australia, or English in a Japanese high school or if possible a university
Gilly Hutchinson, Australia
I choose this course because of UTS reputation for education courses and because it's a progressive university. What I like about it is; the amazing psychology class, Associate Professor Pauline Gibbons ‘Theory and Practise of TESOL’ (easily the most inspiring class I’ve ever taken), the mix of theory and practise, the fact that the two practicum’s are separate giving you 2 totally different experiences and the mix of students in our class. After graduation I want to teach either primary or secondary schools or TAFE, and do the Master of Arts in TESOL.
Emmanuel Gasparro, France
I choose UTS because of its good reputation, it’s close to my job and it’s where I did my first degree. In this course I’ve meet a lot of people working in the education system including people from the board of studies and French/Italian consultants. The teachers have very good standards and have a lot of experience and knowledge about Australian Education.
In the future Id like to teach in high school’s, undertake an Italian course so I can teach this as well as French, and study some more so I can eventually teach in a university.
Kana Ohhashi, Japan
The GD Languages Teaching course is only a one-year course, and has two practicum’s. It is attractive to me in that I can experience and study teaching in just one year. I really like the practicum’s, psychology, and to share experiences and resources with teachers and classmates.
Id like to teach Japanese in a secondary school in Australia and later go back to Japan and teach Japanese to students from overseas using the positive aspects of Australian education.
Yafen Chen, China
In this course I like the subjects on teaching technique, methodology, information about Australian education. I like some of the teachers alot and they have a high standard.
After graduation I would like to teach languages and one day set up a language school.
Ayumi Nakamura, Japan
I originally choose this course to obtain an Australian Visa, but have grown interested in teaching methods and advanced grammar. The course is good for improving English ability, and knowing about Australian education, and policies etc. In future I d like to teach adults languages at TAFE or similar institutions.
Mario Perez, Australia
I like the fact that the students in this course are so close knit. We all attend the same classes and get to build friendships and I miss these faces when out doing practicum teaching block. I am very happy with the standard of teaching. The teachers have been great.
I have always been interested in languages and have felt strongly about maintaining my mother tongue. I think that this has a lot to do with the LOTE teachers I have learnt so much from over the years. I hope to teach and have a class to call my own and become one of those role models for children to look up to.
