The following are quotes from Bachelor of Education in Primary Education students:

After exploring my options at other universities, I was drawn to UTS for its practical approach to Primary Education. Not only does it provide the opportunity to gain practical experience in the classroom every semester, but the coursework focuses on the latest approaches to teaching and learning in a diverse range of educational settings. The opportunities for undergraduate students are endless, including international and rural placements, and the chance to complete your Honours degree in your final year!I believe that UTS has equipped me with the knowledge and skills I need to offer high quality education and support no matter where I teach.

The reason I really enjoy Primary Education at UTS is because it teaches the most recent theory combined with practicum experience every semester. There is a wide variety of interesting subjects to choose from which prepare us to be confident and well equipped teachers. I also like the flexibility of the course and the Education staff are very knowledgeable, approachable and professional.

The primary education course is great for me because Ive learnt to teach subjects in a practical, hands-on way, as well as doing extra subjects which really interest me, like music and art. I also love going into the schools every semester, to get experience working with children, and get to know how classrooms and schools work. I feel like I'm really being prepared to go out and teach!

Why 2007 1st year students chose the BEd Primary at UTS*
"The positive feedback and excellent reputation this course has! I know people who have had student teachers from different unis and they always say how UTS students are far more experienced and confident"
"I have been told it is the best course for primary education , and I like the feel of the university - it was very welcoming"
"UTS offers more practical experience in the years throughout the course and offers a broad range of subjects starting in the first year. It understands that practice is as, if not more important then just theory and UTS incorporates both areas of primary education together"
"Location, atmosphere, overall aesthetics of the uni, and outstanding feedback from past students"
"Other universities did not offer the combined course of Primary Education & International Studies (BEd/BAIS) and the fact they organise the flight and particular university in the country of choice is also a bonus"
"It has the best practical experience. Was recommended by teachers who take uni stduents for prac"
"I heard that UTS offered a fantasic course for primary school education, as I have a couple of friends who have done it here and said the structure of the course is great. UTS also has a good reputation for being a great university"
"Practicals in all years, instead of most unis doing pracs only in 3rd & 4th year. Its known for a good education department."
"Prac experience. I talked to friends doing other teaching degrees and they all thought prac was very important"
"Practicums every semester & I liked the feel of it when I came to Info Day."
"Empoyment from being a UTS graduate"
"Professionalism and the high regard with which the degree is held."
"The course looks more structured and the subjects appear much more relevant to the occupation I wish to end up in"
"Specific focus on Primary Teaching, not such a general degree"
