The Copier Runs out of paper or toner at a critical moment?
Even though this always seems to happen out of hours when no help is available, don’t panic. All UTS: Education copiers have paper supplies that are monitored regularly. Look around you and the stockpile should be obvious. Similarly, each of the Canon copiers has at least one spare toner cartridge nearby for moments like these. The larger IR5000 models require a TD-7 toner and the smaller IR3300 models require a NPG-18 toner. Toner is easy to add by following the steps illustrated on the toner carton. Contact Paul Compagnucci (City ext 3883) or Simon Scourfield-Evans (Kuring-gai ext 5291) for assistance during regular office hours. There are at least three copiers accessible to staff at each campus. If one fails in a way that would require a service call please leave a message on one of the numbers mentioned above and find another. Ask your supervisor to show you where these alternate copiers are at the start of semester.

You should familiarise yourself with exit points.
What should I do if there is a fire or other emergency?
If there is a fire or other emergency whilst you are teaching, your role would be to: Inform Security if you discover or suspect a fire or other emergency (from internal phones dial 6 for UTS Security or 0000 for Emergency Services). Advise the students to evacuate if and when directed by the alarm system. Show them to the nearest exit. Try to ensure all the students evacuate. You may need to delegate someone to check toilets or break-out rooms. If one of your students is mobility-impaired, arrange to have them move onto the fire stairs after the other students and wait on the landing with an escort (they should be safe on the fire stairs for several hours). Inform Security or the Fire Brigade of their location so they can arrange for their safe evacuation.
What computing facilities are available for students?
In Building 10 there is a UTS: Education computing lab ( CB10.05.456) for students. Student Pin Codes open the door on weekdays. Staff Pin Codes will always open the door. There is a student kiosk on level 2.
