Students enrolled in subjects offered by distance mode will generally engage in the learning process using the web accessible learning tool “UTSOnline” Documents and resources for learners will generally be made available within the UTSOnline subject site or via a link to the library digital resource server. See below for further detail regarding UTSOnline.
A handful of subject still use printed learning guides and readers in addition to online learning.
Assessment
Assessment tasks, criteria and due dates are contained within your Subject Profile as are the Faculty’s Assessment Guidelines. You are required to attach a Assignment Coversheet (pdf, 292kb) to each assessment that you submit. If you have provided us with your UTS email address a receipt will be emailed to you once we receive your assignment. If a stamped, self-addressed envelope of appropriate size has been provided we will send your marked assignment back to you.
The Library
The UTS Library has a wide range of services and resources available to help you with your information needs. In particular it is constantly developing new, more convenient ways to deliver information to support off campus learning at UTS. Study Skills
Many students enrolled in Education are returning to study after a long break or are undertaking a university course for the first time. The University recognises that you may need a {re-}orientation to the academic reading and writing demands of your discipline. Assistance is available at the ELSSA Centre. The centre provides academic language and literacy support to students and staff at UTS.

UTSOnline
UTSOnline is a web based learning tool used in all Flexible Learning subjects. You can access it from inside UTS, at home, the office or wherever a web browser connected to the Internet is located. It can be used for:
- Asking and answering questions (via Communication: Discussion Forums)
- Interacting with students as well as your lecturer/tutor (via Communication: Group Pages)
- Keeping up to date (via Announcements)
- Accessing learning resources (via Course Documents)
You can begin using UTSOnline as soon as your enrolment has been finalised by going to: http://online.uts.edu.au/
If you click on ‘Information for Students’ you will find detailed instructions as to how to login and exactly what the service can offer you, as a student. If you require any assistance on regards to using UTSOnline contact the Information Technology Division of UTS on (02) 9514 2222. Clicking on 'Help' will provide you with valuable information assisting you with your UTS studies.
Email
On enrolment you will automatically be given a free UTS email account. You will be able to access your email account from any computer connected to the web. If you already have an email address you can forward your UTS email address to your other account. The Teaching and Learning Development office will only use your UTS email account when receipting assignments, you are therefore required to activate this account as soon as possible after you enroll.
