Education Student PIN Code Protocols 2006

This document outlines the protocol for students to find their PIN code for access
to Building 10 (weekends) and to UTS: Education managed computing facilities (weekdays).
Access to UTS: Education managed computer facilities on weekends is restricted to booked
classes only.
Finding the Code
- After enrolment has been processed students can collect their unique PIN code
from the Pin Access Website by entering their Student ID number and their UTS
Email password.
- Information on how to activate the email account to establish that password
is shown below.
- PIN codes provided to students in previous years will be unchanged and
may be verified at the pin access
web site.
Access Privileges
- This system is activated for all students enrolled in Education subjects studying at the city campus.
- The PIN code will operate the main entrance door to Building 10 between 8 am and 6 pm on weekends.
- The PIN code will operate the doors to UTS: Education computing lab CB10.5.456 between 8am and 7:30pm on weekdays.
- There is no on-site
technical assistance available after 5 pm. The Helpdesk may be contacted on 9514 2222 for password and authentication difficulties.
Using the KeyPad
- Press 'Start' key on lower left hand side of keypad
- Enter seven digit code
- Press blank key on lower right hand corner of panel
- A green light on the bottom of the panel will indicate access authorised
Activating UTS Email Accounts
- Students who have not activated their UTS Email can do so by visiting:
http://www.uts.edu.au/email/
- Follow the 'Activate my account' link and provide some details (ensure accuracy
at this step) and nominate a password.
- Contact the Helpdesk on phone extension 2222 for assistance
- This process also activates the Lab Access account allowing use of student computer
labs throughout the university
Conditions of Use
- Access is disabled if the PIN is compromised (used by person other than that
allocated).
- Students found propping doors with security pad access open will have their
PIN suspended.
- Any one found using a PIN not belonging to them will be escorted from university
premises by UTS Security.
- UTS Security has the authority to ask for personal identification to confirm
the identity of a PIN user and /or visitor to University premises.
- Abuse of the Access Control System (PIN) may result in disciplinary action under
