2008 winner Laurie Brady Award for Teaching Excellence The Laurie Brady award is offered each year to the student studying the Bachelor of Education in Primary Education who has displayed outstanding teaching ability in the school classroom (field-based practicum). Laurie Brady (pictured) has been a long-serving member of the Faculty of Education, and has devoted his working life to practising and promoting quality teaching.
1. Where are you teaching? I am currently working fulltime as a primary school teacher at Auburn West Public School in the Western Suburbs of Sydney.
2. What student achievements helped you win the award? I guess what helped me win this award was the constructive criticism that I received from my prac teachers. I felt then it was my duty to build my knowledge on teaching with that and to always be positive and stay persistent.
3. How have you used the content of the BEd in your occupation? One particular thing that does stand out during me degree was that if it wasn't for the practical part of it from the beginning, I think I wouldn't be where I am today.
4. Where do you see your career and lifelong learning heading? I feel that I have a lot to learn, as I am still in the beginning of my learning career. Although this might sound clichéd, I want to make a difference. A difference within my community as well as the wider Australian community. I want to be able to look back at my self at an older age and say Amna Elghoul succeeded and has help many generations conquer their goals.
