Rosemary King - Student Profile

2006 winner - Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts Award
Awarded to the BEd Adult Education Student who demonstrated superior achievement in the areas of academic studies and adult education practice.

1. What is your occupation?
I am currently studying the Master of Education in Adult Education degree at UTS and working part time, two morning per week, at Tranby Aboriginal College in Glebe.

2. What student achievements helped you win the Award?
As an undergrad student it was an honour being asked to present a paper at both the Cosmopolitan Civil Societies Conference and the Discourses and Cultural Practices Conference. This was a great opportunity to meet practitioners in the field of adult education and writers whose work I had read during my Bachelor studies.
(Rosemary was also a winner of the Australian College of Educators award winner.)

3. How have you used the content of the BEd in your occupation?
I am able to call on my learning and experience of the BEd in my current employment at Tranby Aboriginal College.

4.  Where do you see your career & lifelong learning going?
My career and continued learning and teaching, is particularly focused in the areas of Aboriginal adult literacy, tutoring, and mentoring. I may go onto further study and maybe even into research.
