2008 Faculty Award Winners

The Faculty of Education is pleased to announce the following outstanding students as winners of the 2008 Faculty awards and prizes:

Emily Scheidnegger
2008 winner - The Kevin Dawes Prize
This prize may be awarded annually to the most outstanding student in the science education subjects in the Bachelor of Education in Primary Education. The cash value of the prize is $250.

Amna Elghoul
2008 winner - The Laurie Brady Award for Teaching Excellence
The Laurie Brady award is offered each year to the student studying the Bachelor of Education in Primary Education who has displayed outstanding teaching ability in the school classroom (field-based practicum). Laurie Brady has been a long-serving member of the Faculty of Education, and has devoted his working life to practising and promoting quality teaching. The cash value of the prize is $300.

Mark Story
2008 winner - The Gwen Muir Memorial Prize for Special Education
Awarded annually to a student from the Bachelor of Education in Special Education who has the most distinguished academic record and who has demonstrated excellence in the practicum in special education. The cash value of the prize of $250

Nayomie Baihn
2008 winner - The Phillips Prize
This prize is awarded to the graduand with the most outstanding academic and professional record in the vocational education field of practice, in the Bachelor of Education in Adult Education. The annual cash value of the prize is $250.

Rosemary King
2008 winner - The Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts Award
It is available to graduates of the Bachelor of Education in Adult Education who demonstrate superior achievement in academic studies and adult education practice. The cash value of the award is $1000.

Judith Cooke
2008 winner - The NSW Adult Literacy and Numeracy Award
This prize is awarded to the graduating student in the Bachelor of Education in Adult Education who demonstrates of excellent academic achievements in the course generally, and more specifically in subjects in the Language, Literacy and Numeracy major. The award consists of $100, publication of a piece of work in the NSW Adult Literacy & Numeracy Council's publication, an opportunity to present the work at a Council forum, and one-year membership of the Council.
