A lecturer in the Faculty with a background in primary teaching and learning, Alan Scully has a long-standing interest in field experience in pre-service primary teacher education, and is currently responsible for the coordination of the practicum in teacher education.

Teaching Areas:
Pedagogy in the Primary School with an emphasis on Classroom Management, Strategies for Individualising Student Learning, and Learning in Groups. Developmental Psychology (applied to primary-aged learners). Supervision in the Practicum.

Research Areas:
These activities have encompassed:

* the development of research-based teaching resources in the areas of developmental psychology, learning theory and supervision in the practicum, and
* research and writing in the areas of tertiarty teaching practice, classroom management teaching and learning, and the role of the University academic in the practicum.

Developing and foreshadowed interests include:

* mentoring in the context of tertiary teaching and learning, and
* developing school-wide contexts for student placement in the teacher education practicum.
