Clive Chappell is Associate Dean Research and Development and director of the Learning & Change Research Group. He has been involved in teaching, research and consultancy in the areas of Human Resource Development and Vocational Education and Training for 16 years. As well as managing the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) sponsored research conducted by the Faculty he has also been a chief investigator in an ARC Discovery research project that is examining changing identities at work. Currently he is a chief investigator in the ARC Discovery project Beyond Training and Learning; integrated development practices in organisations. He is also a senior researcher and research manager in the DEST funded NCVER managed 'Building capability of VET providers' research consortium with the University of South Australia and Canberra Institute of Technology.

Teaching Areas:
Research perspectives, needs analysis, program design, competency standards development, teaching and training practices, Human Resource Development and identity construction.

Research Areas:
Changing work changing workers, learning and knowledge production, working knowledge Vocational Education and Training policy and practice. Work-based learning and organisational development.

Community and Professional Activities:

Consultant to many professional associations organisations and government bodies including; Medical Scientists of Australia, Architects Accreditation Council of Australia, Australian Audiology Society, Health & Community Services Industry Training Advisory Board. Departments of Education in Victoria and NSW, Queensland Public Service, Colegio Nacional de Educacion Profesional Tecnica – CONALEP Mexico, AIDAB, NSW VETAB.
