Since 1991 Nicky has been involved in teaching, research and consultancy in the field of Human Resource Development. Her research work has emerged through participating in various sets of educational and research programs across the Faculty. These include a number of research centres: the Centre for Workplace Communication & Culture (CWCC), the Research Centre for Vocational Education and Training (RCVET) as well as the Research in Adult & Vocational Training (RAVL).

Teaching Areas:
Current teaching:

• cultural diversity at work in post-graduate and undergraduate programs;
• work-based learning programs where everyday work practices are a key source of their Masters programs.

Research Areas:
Working knowledge and changing pedagogies.

Centrality of language in the construction of knowledge.

Educational and research collaborative partnerships between universities and other organisations.

The relationship between working and learning and between being a worker and learner, and the accompany formation of new identities of learners and learning practitioners (including academics) within this environment.
