Robyn Johnston is a lecturer in the UTS Faculty of Education as well as a research fellow of the RCVET. She is also currently Co-ordinator for the HRD specialism in the Bachelor of Education (Adult Eduation)at the University.
Research Areas: Robyn's experience as a researcher is reflected in her active participation in national and international conferences. In her conference presentations she has addressed issues related to enhancing communication in organisations, dimensions of training reform in Australia, best practice in group training and changing patterns of HRD practice. Robyn has been a keynote speaker and workshop presenter at a wide variety of conferences ranging from the NSW Secondary School Principals and the Australian Health Communicators Association to ANTA conferences and seminars and international conferences in the UK, Europe and the USA as well as Australia. Robyn is currently examining shaping influences on careers in HRD, and in conjuncton ,with researchers from Charles Sturt University participating in an NCVER funded project in on the role of the HRD professional.
Community and Professional Activities:Robyn is is an experienced teacher, researcher and consultant in the areas of Human Resource Development, Vocational Education and Training and Communication Management. Robyn's professional experience has included providing consultancy advice in a range of areas including the development of competency standards for a several industries, design and provision of employee development and training programs, and commissioned research and evaluation which has formed the basis of new program initiatives or submissions to professional bodies. Clients have included the NSW Department of Health and Community Services and Department of Education and Training, John Fairfax and Sons,Niki Ellis and Associates for the Australian Medical Association, Kimberley Clarke Ltd, the Australian Pharmacy Guild, Retail Group Training and Employment, Tourism Training, NSW, the Centre for Management Studies, UTS, the Department of Industrial Relations, the Pacific Island Club resorts on Micronesia and Thailand. Robyn has been actively involved in professional associations and was Vice President of the NSW Division of the Australian Institute of Training and Development for several years in the early 1990s.
